Pasta Never Had It So Good
Sauces 'n Love, Inc. Company Information
Since February 2000, Boston based Sauces ‘n Love, Inc. has been revolutionizing the taste and idea of glass jarred pasta sauce while saving you time in the kitchen. Sauces ‘n Love Fresh Homemade Pasta Sauces are sold nationally and internationally to gourmet, all natural and specialty markets, distributors, prepared food departments and caterers. We also cater to the gift industry and produce private labeling products under the refrigerated Sauces 'n Love brand and Scarpetta, our shelf stable grocery product line. The commercial kitchen is located in Massachusetts in Lynn, 10 miles North of Boston. Homemade Italian products are prepared fresh daily.
How it all started
Combining a culinary dream with an entrepreneurial spirit, Paolo and Tessa launched Sauces 'n Love, Inc. in 1999. A love for family, friends and entertaining inspired a product line - and a wish that some nights people would eat at home! Recipes were formulated, packaging created, branding implemented and a business plan was written. Sourcing local products to use in our recipes was the start of fresh flavors and homemade taste. Avoiding preservatives, added sugar or tomatoes from a can is a philosophy we still implement today.
Our initial a "test market" was done by dropping menus off in our neighborhood at people's doorsteps. They could order one fresh sauce daily to be delivered to their house for $5. Delivery included! For $1.50, you could add a box of pasta. People fell 'n Love and Sauces 'n Love, Inc. was officially born! With confidence and a new idea, we wrote a business plan, built a commercial kitchen in Medford, Massachusetts and targeted local markets such as Wasik's Cheese Shoppe in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Others were quick to follow suit and customers began asking for Sauces 'n Love pasta sauces - in the refrigerator!
Retailers such as Bread & Circus, Zabar's and Fairway began selling our products. We offered in store tastings and positive publicity soon appeared in both local and national publications! We expanded the line of flavors, began a local catering company called Lunch and continued to deliver sauces to your favorite markets.
Demand for Sauces 'n Love grew and sales increased. We expanded in the Northeast region and slowly began to build our network of stores across the country to sell nationally to food markets large and small. Scarpetta, our shelf stable brand was developed to sell to stores that didn't offer refrigerated cases such as Stonewall Kitchen, Crate & Barrel and Williams-Sonoma. Interest in our fresh flavors, homemade recipes and delicious pasta sauces gained the attention of the media and customers alike - and the pesto addiction was in full force.
In September 2003, O Magazine picked Sauces 'n Love pasta sauces as one of Oprah's personal favorite things, "Pasta Perfect!" and started the buzz for our products. Today our products are featured in the media in print, TV and online with wonderful things to say, top picks for taste tests and thrilling endorsements as testimony for the high quality and flavor of all of our recipes.
Retail, Wholesale, Foodservice, Private Label products are produced in house with a passion for cooking and creating, a commitment to quality and production and strict adherence to the food safety laws that are mandated by the state, HAACP, third party superior rated auditors and FDA.
Fresh aromas permeate the neighborhood daily as we prepare, prep, simmer, sauté, cook, package and ship our products in the US and abroad.
We continue to be inspired by fresh flavors and new ideas, launching new products as quick and easy meal solutions. Healthy and delicious.
If we had to do it all again.... would we? Absolutely! We love what we do and it shows. We still eat our very own sauces every week for pasta & beyond!

The Menu: This is where it all began. In 1999, the company started a small delivery service in Brookline, Massachusetts as a way to test market its new idea and products. One fresh sauce was made each day, according to the menu and sold to the local community. People called for delivery - and called again and again lending the confidence needed to launch Sauces 'n Love, Inc. and build a commercial kitchen for production.
Our beloved 1972 Fiat 500 is not only eco-friendly with 50 miles to the gallon, but was a gift from Paolo's dad, Gino Volpati from Monza, Italy when we started Sauces 'n Love. We emblazoned it with logos and still drive it around Boston, with love!
Zucchine & Dill Fresh Pasta: In the early days, Sauces 'n Love offered a large variety of pasta sauces and fresh pasta too! With the menu changing weekly, we were able to experiment with fresh ingredients and creative flavors!
SCARPETTA: Influenced by modern Italian style and inspired by the signature ferrari red race car, our shelf stable products were introduced in 2004 with a clean and sexy image. Scarpetta, which means "little shoe" in Italian, is what you are doing when you drag the bread across the plate to enjoy the last flavorful bite. In Italy, we ask to do it at the table as a way to compliment the host or cook - and as a politesse. Posso fare la scarpetta?
Postcard: From our second kitchen in Union Square, Somerville, Massachusetts, we threw press parties, Italian feasts, farmer's markets, photo shoots, tours, tastings and invited everyone to visit! This is one of many invitations to our table!
Indeed – pasta never had it so good!
